BE OUT with LEARNING DIFFICULTIES

Time:

The group meets every other Monday from 1 till 3.30 at the Armistead Centre.

Who is it for?

The group is for males or females (over 18) who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgendered with learning disabilities/ difficulties. You must be able to give your consent about your lifestyle issues or can be referred by a key worker or other professional.

What do we do?

The group is an informal space were you can get support & advice around sexual health, coming out, homophobia, relationships or drugs & alcohol. BOLD is a space where you ‘can be yourself’, meet other people with learning difficulties who are gay, lesbian or bisexual and make new friends.

If you are nervous about coming into the group for the first time we can:

• Make you feel welcome

• Meet you before the group starts

• Introduce you to other group members.

We are aware that attending any group for the first time is difficult for most of us, we will aim to make this as easy as possible. For further information contact us via email, or via the get in contact section of this website or ringing our information and support line on 0151 227 1931.

A quote from group members:

‘I feel less isolated because I am not the only gay person with learning difficulties.’

‘If you have any problems you can talk to staff, if you need to ask any questions around safer sex, staff are here to help.’

‘I’ve met new friends learnt new things and I’m happier’
