Parents & Carers
Time:
The group meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at the Armistead Centre from 7 till 9pm.
Who is it for?
The parents and carers group is a social and support service for friends, family or carers of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered people.
We can also offer support to LGBT parents, carers and their families.
What do we do?
It is a space to talk about the issues that affect family members of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered people. Staff and your peers can support you through difficult times, those hard to ask questions and also to celebrate the positives.
If you can’t attend the group, staff can arrange home visits, telephone or email support outside office hours or put you in contact with other parents and carers via telephone.
We are aware that attending any group for the first time is difficult for most of us, we will aim to make this as easy as possible. For further information contact us via email, or via the get in contact section of this website or ringing our information and support line on 0151 227 1931.
A quote from one of our members:
‘I was worried that I was the only one who was going through these issues when I met the other group members they made me feel reassured and welcome. It was a good opportunity to talk to other people, have a laugh and get correct information. Plus they make a nice cup of tea !!!!’
