Speciality Groups

Armistead Project has a number of groups that are tailored for particualr groups of people from the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender community. These are;

YOUTH GROUPS:

 The youth groups are based in Knowlsey , St Helens and Halton and can offer the chance to meet other young people like you and the chance to make new friends  as well as support and advice on the following issues  :
• Support with family conflict or problems at home
• Help at bullying, homophobia and discrimination
• Safer sex and sexual health discrimination
• Coming out
• Drug and / or alcohol concerns
• Work, college or school issues
• Relationship advice
• Housing issues

Gay Knowsley: is a youth support group for young Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender people aged 13 – 19. It’s an ideal place to meet new friends and get involved in a host of activities. Our support workers are on hand to talk to you in confidence at all times and they and the other young people can help you through any bad times as well as sharing in the good times! The group meets in Knowsley on Monday evening between 7pm – 9pm.

BOP – Being Out Proud:  A youth group for Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual (LGB) young people aged 13 -19. The group meets in St Helens town centre every Wednesday. The group gives young people the opportunity to meet other young LGB people in safe environment, access information relevant to their lifestyles and to speak in confidence to one of the workers.We have organised activities such as days out to local and regional LGB festivals and events such as Manchester Pride, youth Pride Games, and Homotopia. G-Space:is a youth group for young lesbain Gayand bisexual people aged 13-19 based in Halton. it meets weekly on Monday 6.00pm - 9pm and provides support and infroatmion and social space. The group has been in invlved in trips to Pride and has worekd with Homotopia in Project Triangle, cultural exchange project to Poland. Women’s Group:  Armistead women’s group is a support and social group for Lesbian and bisexual women of all ages over 18.We meet weekly every Monday 3pm – 6pm at the Armistead Centre. It is a social and supportive space to access information and support from other women  or Armistead staff for advice support sexual health information and a cahnce to meet other women like you. BOLD (Being Out with Learning Disabilities): this is a group for Lesbian Gay or Bisexual people with Learning Disabilities. it is place for you to meet other people like you and to get help and information when you need it.

Parents & Carers Group: a group where parents and carers of Lesbian Gay and Bisexual people can meet for mutual support and information on issues that affect them and thier families.

Positive Group: This group provides support to men living with HIV and meets every two weeks in a social setting. The group is informal and is a chance to meet other men living with HIV. Staff can provide information on sticking with treatments, sexual health and safer sex. We support people when they are newly diagnosed and to partners and family of men living with HIV.

50+ Group: The 50+ Lesbian Gay and Bisexual Group is a social group to meet and socialise with others around their own age and to access sexual health and other information. The group meets on alternate Wednesdays between 4pm and 6pm. The group also arranges othr events outside of these times such as meals and trips.
